The KAPSARC Energy Knowledge Center (EKC) is responsible for making available the comprehensive and timely information that is required for research activity. KAPSARC will provide its researchers, stakeholders, affiliates and other customers with that knowledge and information through both physical and electronic collections.
Physical Environment of the EKC
The EKC building consists of three floors occupying a gross area of about 10,500 square meters with 5,500 square meters of net area. The EKC’s purpose is academic and research, and thus it maintains a rich store of information in KAPSARC’s core research areas. It offers:
- Volumes of books and reference works
- Reading and study areas, both private and communal, on every floor
- PC-based search system of the contents of the EKC physical collections as well as the contents of the libraries of licensed research centers both inside and outside the KSA
- Wireless network for intranet and internet access
- Dedicated private area for webinar attendees
- Dedicated private area for external videoconferencing
- Dedicated halls for in-house seminars and workshops
- Temporary access system for guests who are not Center staff
Electronic Collections
The KAPSARC electronic collections is network-based, with intranet and internet layers that allow for different levels of access to content for stakeholders, affiliates, customers and the public. Additionally, the EKC benefits from dedicated database servers and offers dedicated internet servers for videoconferencing and webinars, and robust search capabilities.
