Energy & Environmental Technology Research

This division of KAPSARC seeks to identify, monitor, and develop systems and technologies that both lead to improved environmental management as well as that maintain and improve industrial, commercial, and residential energy production and efficiency. Research in this area builds on the KSA’s strengths—its expertise, specialization and unique environment—to develop new solutions for global benefit. KAPSARC monitors new energy and environmental technology developments throughout the world to identify opportunities to develop and employ new technologies. Active programs are described below:

  1. Carbon Management Technologies

    Evaluating existing and emerging technical solutions for reducing the carbon footprint of the KSA, the energy sector and the world economy—a top priority in global efforts to minimize climate change from human activities. Learn More

    Seeking innovations that optimize exploration, extraction, production and deployment. Focus will be on information and computational technologies. Learn More

  3. Non-Conventional Energy Technologies

    Examining state-of-the-art technologies that may be leveraged to develop non-traditional energy sources with practical and economical applications, both inside and outside the Kingdom. Learn More

  4. Energy Efficiency Technologies

    Identifying, evaluating and developing new solutions for reducing waste in the energy supply, distribution and demand markets—an endeavor that can be viewed as a form of alternative energy. Learn More

  5. Transportation Technologies & Fuels

    Research and development on engine and alternative transportation fuel technologies relevant to the Kingdom both as a major oil producer and as a potential beneficiary of these technological advances. Learn More
